Great grandparents~ Flora and Joseph. |
Smooth wood block
Intricately carved into
crescent shape
Great grandpa’s handiwork
Sweet smell of butter
emanates from
cookie mold
Buttery cookies
melt in your mouth
Passed down through
generations
Great grandpa’s cookie mold for making crescent cookies. |
Family recipe that uses the cookie mold. You can also make them into thumbprint filled cookies.
Now that the weather here has cooled down a bit, I think I’ll bake up a batch of nut crescent cookies.

What a wonderful articular of history, to pass down and keeping family treasures going thru the generations.
ReplyDeleteIt is always wonderful to read the old recipes and attempt to replicate them. Thank you for the bit of history once agaim.
ReplyDeleteThat mold is really special, Amy. How great that you're writing "your" history in poems.
ReplyDeleteYum! Your family heritage is ripe with craftspeople - including you, Amy. Thank you for sharing your family through your poems. :)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try a cookie mold. How interesting that this is made of wood. And "Great grandpa's handiwork!" What a wonderful item to have in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the cookie mold, photo, and reading your poem. Of course I'm craving crescent cookies now. And I love Great Grandpa Joseph's mustache. :)
ReplyDeleteI misread "passed down" as "pressed down." I wonder if that would work? How you "press" the buttery dough into this form to recall your history as well as this tradition.
ReplyDeleteLove the family history in your poem and mold!
ReplyDeleteAnother pair of kitchen artifacts with poem. This is seeming like a manuscript!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure—the press and the poem. Both are sweet and special. Well done
ReplyDeleteWow...these family heirlooms and poems you're sharing are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love recipes that look like that. You always know something great is going to come from them! Wonderful poem!
ReplyDeleteDelicious memories and cookies. Beautifully captured. -- Christie @ https://wonderingandwondering.wordpress.com/
